Rex C. Houze,
President and CEO

Since 1972, Rex Houze has been
helping business leaders improve their performance, results, and quality of
life.
Rex worked hard to excel in every area of his life. As an athlete, he played
on the first Little League baseball team in his hometown and made the
All-star team. When he didn’t make the basketball team in the eighth grade,
he was determined to practice every day, even if it meant shoveling snow off
the outdoor court and practicing with gloves on to prevent frostbite. With
that determination, he improved his skill enough to become the starting
point guard on his high school team. He also lettered in football, baseball
and track. He took up tennis at 36 and became a championship level player.
His focus was always on improvement and reaching pre-determined goals.
This work ethic and passion for success enabled Rex, at age 29, to become
the youngest elected president of the Ohio Jaycees in their 42 year history.
Under his leadership, this organization grew to over 15,000 members and 300
chapters statewide. He went on to serve three years on the U.S. Jaycee
Individual Development Committee. Rex was a major contributor to the U.S.
Jaycees’ Personal Dynamics and Leadership Dynamics programs.
As an avid reader, goal setter and student of continued learning and
development, Rex reads over 50 books per year on personal, leadership, and
organizational development – and has been doing so for over 34 years. Prior
to founding Better Performance & Results, Inc., he was the president of two
national leadership development companies.
His many years of conducting workshops and speeches and coaching hundreds of
business owners, has led him to publish numerous business articles on
performance and productivity improvement. In addition, he has published
Getting Results Through Others, COACHING for Improved Performance & Results,
and Improving Performance & Results, three full-length leadership
development programs. Rex is the author and publisher of two electronic
publications, Coaching Connection and Coaching Tips, and is co-author of the
book, Bridging the Leadership Gap.
Rex’s ability to communicate clearly, simply, and precisely is truly a
unique skill that he has worked hard to develop. He gladly shares with you,
in his publications and workshops, what he has studied and experienced for
over 3 decades.
